The Plan

One journey.
The whole Bible.

Modern Witness isn't a pile of sermons to pick from. It's a single, three-year path — 156 messages across 40 series — that carries you and your church through the sweep of Scripture, timed so the moments that matter land when they should.

How the cycle works

You don't start over.
You jump in.

There's one shared cycle, and everyone following Modern Witness is on it together.

Whatever Sunday it is, there's a message waiting: open it, make it yours, preach it. Next week, the next one's ready. After three years the cycle begins again, and you catch whatever you joined too late to preach. No setup, no “which year am I on,” no starting from January in the middle of July.

Follow the cycle

Preach this week's message, then the next. The calendar carries you through the whole Bible, in season, without you having to plan the year.

The Christian year

Timed to
the seasons.

The calendar is built around the Christian year and the days your people already feel. The big moments arrive when they should.

  • New yearJanuary

    First Steps

Each year opens on the bedrock: a short foundations series to set your church on solid ground for the year ahead.

  • Valentine'sFebruary

    Valentines

Love, marriage, and the heart: a timely word for the season when your people are already thinking about it.

  • Lent & EasterSpring

    Eight Days to Forever

The eight days from the triumphal entry to the empty tomb: walking your church to the cross and out of the grave, right in the Easter season.

  • Mother's DayMay

    Deborah, Mother of Israel

A judge, a prophet, and “a mother in Israel”: honoring the women who shape a people, landing on Mother's Day itself.

  • PentecostLate spring

    The Advocate

The coming of the Spirit and the birth of the church: the Helper Jesus promised, taught in the Pentecost season.

  • Advent & ChristmasDecember

    Emmanuel · Prophesies

The promises and the arrival: the prophets' long wait and the God who came near, carrying your church through Advent to Christmas.

Because Easter moves year to year, these land in their season rather than on a fixed date, but the shape of the year always follows the story.

The three-year arc

The whole story,
three times through.

Three passes through Scripture, each going further than the last.

  1. Year One

The whole story, once through. A sweep across the Bible: the Gospels, the Psalms and Proverbs, the judges and prophets, Paul's prison letters, the rise and ruin of the kings. A first pass that gives your church the shape of the whole.

  2. Year Two

Deeper in. Richer studies on the ground Year One covered: the parables, the work of the Spirit, vision and freedom, Daniel in exile, the Gospel of John. The same story, further down.

  3. Year Three

Book by book. Sustained exposition through whole books: Genesis, Romans, Hebrews, Acts, the Prophets, the letters to Timothy. The most systematic year, verse by verse.

Every message

The same
five moves.

The plan gives you where to go. COBRA gives you how to get there — a path from first word to final vision, in your voice.

  1. Connect

Open with a story only you can tell.

  2. On-board

Bring your congregation into the story.

  3. Bible

    Walk the text in movements.

  4. Response

Call for a concrete, doable decision.

  5. Aspire

Cast the vision. Paint what changes.
